S262,000 — S289,999 ...I recently acquired a .38 special and cannot identify whether it is pre 10 or 36 model. The serial number is C149596. The serial number is stamped on the handle, barrel and cylinder. There are numbers on the yoke stem in two lines, 27 on the first line and 7324B.
S&W Revolvers 1945 to Present. I can only guess that you guys get sick of this question but it appears that S&W serial number lookup resources are just non-existent. I can easily find the date of manufacture for my other guns but not my S&W. Oh well, I'll play the newbie card and lets see how hard I get trolled.. E 470 toll map
Mar 14, 2012 · Your pistol dates to 1974-1975 and probably right in the middle of that date range. Serial numbers from A235001 thru A265000 were produced in that dare range. Around here, a model 59 sells for around $400-450 if it's in really nice condition. I'll assume yours is in excellent condition by your comments. The book shows serial numbers for the 34 as 11000 in 1955 and 52673 in 1959. Since S&W began stamping model numbers in 1957 your 34 would likely be ~1958.
