An 80 grain charge will do about 1500 fps and will slow to a little more then 900. Fater charges won't buy you a lot down range.Start with a powder charge of 55 grains and work up an accurate load in 5 grain increments. He said that Uberti upgraded the factory to modern C&C machining and other "upgrades" to offset labor costs. Once that was complete they retired or laid off most of the skilled labor. To find out if your lock has a fly, take your unloaded gun and point it in a safe direction.Anyway, the common ramrods of the 18th c. civilian guns would be a tapered wood rod with or without a sheet iron tip on the entry end and a wide front end of bare wood to seat the load.
